Two bodies. One geometry. One presence.
"EVA & VICENT" is conceived to define the space it inhabits, not simply to occupy it. The triangular fragmentation that builds both figures unifies them into a single system of colour and light, so it becomes impossible to say where one ends and the other begins. That fusion isn't a stylistic device: it's the conceptual core of the piece.
The work draws its force from a contrast of materials. A palette-knife acrylic ground, dense, earthen, almost geological, underlies two figures resolved in oil, luminous and sharp-edged. The palette sets deep greens and blues against warm ochres, ivories and terracottas, so the figures appear to physically lift off the ground, as if carved by light. The triangular fragmentation of the faces, asymmetrical eyes, geometric planes that intersect and interrupt one another, doesn't separate Eva from Vicent: it fuses them into a single chromatic organism. This is a painting about fusion: two presences that only fully exist alongside each other.
Emotion isn't depicted: it's constructed. My work is born from the friction between structure and rupture. I approach figuration through a contemporary neoexpressionism: humanised geometries as the architecture of the face, crossed by gesture, by the stain, by the pressure of the brushstroke.
I don't paint portraits. I paint presences. Each piece is an entity with its own identity, not an image but an impact, a fragment of someone existing, occupying a space, leaving a mark within the visual universe of CID シド.
The シド (Shido) signature, the Japanese phonetic reading of CID, comes from a journey through Japan that reshaped both my visual language and my understanding of imperfection as a form of truth. It now lives alongside every CID work as part of its identity.
