A MESSAGE FROM CID シド
Hello, I'm Ricardo

I'm Ricardo CID, シド, a visual artist based in Spain.

If you've reached this page by scanning the signature on this piece, there are probably two reasons why.

Maybe you're standing in front of it in a gallery, and something about it made you stop. If so, I'm glad. Every piece I sign comes from the friction between structure and rupture: these aren't portraits, they're presences. If this one spoke to you, it would be an honour for it to join your collection.

Or maybe it's already yours. In that case, thank you, genuinely. Knowing that EVA & VICENT will live in your space, accompanying you day to day, is something I never take for granted. It's a unique piece, with no copies or editions, part of the PRESENCIAS Vol. II series, and this digital passport is part of its identity: as real as the signature on the canvas.

Thank you for taking the time to reach this page.

CID シド
CURATORIAL READING
Two bodies. One geometry. One presence.

"EVA & VICENT" is conceived to define the space it inhabits, not simply to occupy it. The triangular fragmentation that builds both figures unifies them into a single system of colour and light, so it becomes impossible to say where one ends and the other begins. That fusion isn't a stylistic device: it's the conceptual core of the piece.

The work draws its force from a contrast of materials. A palette-knife acrylic ground, dense, earthen, almost geological, underlies two figures resolved in oil, luminous and sharp-edged. The palette sets deep greens and blues against warm ochres, ivories and terracottas, so the figures appear to physically lift off the ground, as if carved by light. The triangular fragmentation of the faces, asymmetrical eyes, geometric planes that intersect and interrupt one another, doesn't separate Eva from Vicent: it fuses them into a single chromatic organism. This is a painting about fusion: two presences that only fully exist alongside each other.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ricardo CID — CID シド
VISUAL ARTIST, SPAIN

Emotion isn't depicted: it's constructed. My work is born from the friction between structure and rupture. I approach figuration through a contemporary neoexpressionism: humanised geometries as the architecture of the face, crossed by gesture, by the stain, by the pressure of the brushstroke.

I don't paint portraits. I paint presences. Each piece is an entity with its own identity, not an image but an impact, a fragment of someone existing, occupying a space, leaving a mark within the visual universe of CID シド.

The シド (Shido) signature, the Japanese phonetic reading of CID, comes from a journey through Japan that reshaped both my visual language and my understanding of imperfection as a form of truth. It now lives alongside every CID work as part of its identity.
